Geelong Baycats Drop Fitzroy 6-2 Behind Rudy Jaramillo’s Early Single

Four first-inning runs helped the Geelong Baycats to a 6-2 win over Fitzroy on Sunday.

We scored in the first on an RBI single by Rudy Jaramillo, a walk by Cam Gibbons, a hit by pitch, and an RBI single by Lachlan Medew.

Chris Webb reached base three times, scoring twice and earning an RBI with a single in the fourth inning and double in the sixth inning.

Jaramillo got the win for the Baycats thanks to 10 strikeouts. Jaramillo allowed one earned run, four hits and no walks over five innings.

Pawley B ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He allowed six runs in six innings, walked three and struck out six.

Geelong Baycats increased its lead with two runs in the sixth. A double by Chris Webb ignited the offense, scoring Chris Durston.

One run in the bottom of the ninth helped Fitzroy close its deficit to 6-2 on an RBI single by Ryan M before the Baycats shut the door.
